Rodrigo Belalcazar, MD, attended the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Bogotá Facultad de Medicina in Bogota, Columbia, and received his medical degree in 1998. Furthermore, he conducted his residency at the Colombian Institute of Ocular Surgery in Bogotá. In addition, he completed his fellowship training in refractive surgery at the Instituto Barraquer de America (1993), The Myopia Ocular Center in Madrid (1996), as well as at Park Avenue Laser Vision in New York with Emil W. Chynn, MD (2008). In addition, Dr. Belalcazar received board certification in ophthalmology from the American Board of Ophthalmology and is also certified by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates of Medical Examiners. He remains an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery. Dr. Belalcazar dedicates his spare time to mountain and rock climbing, running marathons and triathlons, scuba diving, and skydiving.
